The three most commonly used passwords were 12345, 123456 and 123456789.
NordPass specialists have published a list of the most common and least secure passwords. Experts used a database containing about 500 million passwords leaked in 2019, and ranked them by popularity.
The three most frequently used passwords were 12345, 123456 and 123456789, which were identified in the database a total of 6,348,704 times. These passwords are extremely unreliable and completely predictable, allowing attackers to easily crack accounts by brute force attack.
Recall that in December, a team of Microsoft security researchers examined billions of Microsoft accounts and found that 44 million users used logins and passwords that got to the network due to data leaks in other online services. The analysis covered the period from January to March 2019.
